Papillon
6th – 7th December 2023

Group show curated by Scarlett Pochet and Moriah Ogunbiyi at Dalston Den, 91-93 Kingsland High St, London

Press Release:

'Papillon' came from the French translation of 'butterfly'. Papillon uses the metaphor of the butterfly as a reference point for each artist's practice; diverse yet equally representative of a collective experience with each artist undergoing processes of transformation and growth.

Each artist embodies aspects of a butterfly, each is drawn to diverse points of interest. Like the assortment of practices that coalesce within Papillon, a caterpillar is born from an egg amongst a cluster, beginning life almost indistinguishable from other hatchlings, navigating an existence between leaves, before finally enduring a unique metamorphic transformation, becoming a butterfly, adorned with myriad kaleidoscopic colours.
